Beijing No. 80 High School History and Status
Beijing No.80 high school was founded in 1956. It started in the Chaoyangmen area of Beijing. Over the years, it grew in size and standing.
In 1978, it became a Beijing Key Middle School. In 2003, it earned the title of Beijing Model High School. This is the highest honor for a public school in Beijing.
In 2002, the school launched its International Department. This made it one of the first schools in Beijing to accept foreign students.
Today, the school runs two main campuses. The total area is over 129,000 square meters. The senior high campus is at No. A16, Wangjing North Road. The school also has campuses in Kunming and Xiong'an.

- College Board AP Program — Approved in 2011 for Advanced Placement courses
- IB ProProgramBO — Approved May 2017. One of only three public schools in Beijing with this status.

Curriculum Programs
Middle School: IGCSE Programme (Grades 7–9)
This program aligns China's junior high curriculum with Cambridge IGCSE. By Grade 9, students are ready for any of the three high school paths.
High School: Three Programs (Grades 10–12)
AP Program
This is the biggest program. takes 60 students per year. It pairs China's high school curriculum with AP courses. Students study math, physics, chemistry, biology, economics, and English. AP scores can earn college credits at US and Canadian universities.
A-Level Programme
This program takes 40 students per year. It pairs British A-Level courses with China's curriculum. Subjects include Maths, Further Maths, Sciences, Economics, Business, English, and IT. Further Maths is rare in Beijing. It is a must for top UK university applications. In recent years, 60% of A-Level students got into UK G5 universities. These include Oxford, Cambridge, and Imperial College London.

IB Diploma Programme
Beijing No. 80 is one of only three public schools in Beijing with IB status. Students take six subjects. Three are at Higher Level. Three are at Standard Level. They also complete three core parts: Theory of Knowledge, an Extended Essay, and a CAS project. Top schools in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and Hong Kong accept the IB Programme. Entry starts at Grade 11 and is selective.
For Foreign Students
The school has two programs for foreign students.
The Chinese Language and Culture Program costs RMB 40,000 per year. It is for students who want to learn the Chinese language and culture.
The Chinese Academic Track (CNC - Chinese National Curriculum) costs RMB 50,000 per year. It prepares foreign students for Chinese university entry. Every student in this track has gained admission to a top Chinese university. Most go to Peking University or Tsinghua University each year.

The Golden Sail Wind Orchestra has won first prize at the national level many times. It performed at UNESCO in Paris in 2016. The Golden Sail Dance Troupe won five first prizes in a row at the Beijing Student Art Festival. It also performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2014. The Eighty Chinese Folk Orchestra takes part in regular shows and contests.

Sports
The school has an Olympic-standard 400-meter track. It has a full gym, a swimming pool, and outdoor fields. Students play soccer, rugby, baseball, and softball. The basketball team is active.
