What “International School” Means in Shijiazhuang
In Shijiazhuang, the word “international” can describe two very different things. Understanding that difference is especially important if your child holds a foreign passport.

Do not choose a Shijiazhuang school simply because its website, brochure or English name uses the word “international”.
First check whether the school's Chinese name appears on the current education bureau register. Then check whether the approved age range or school stage includes your child's grade.
A school can operate an international programme without being filed to admit foreign students. The reverse is also possible: a school may be approved to enrol foreign children even though its website hardly mentions international admissions.
Why Your Child's Age Matters
China's compulsory-education rules apply to primary and junior-middle school. At these stages, ordinary compulsory-education schools may not introduce overseas curricula or use overseas textbooks.
This means a younger foreign child attending an approved local school in Shijiazhuang should generally expect to study within the Chinese compulsory-education curriculum, even if the school uses words such as “international” or “bilingual” in other parts of its marketing.
Senior high school is different. This is where international curriculum pathways become relevant, which is why programmes such as A-Level, AP and IGCSE mainly appear among the senior-high options covered later in this guide.

Which Shijiazhuang Schools Can Take Foreign Students in 2026?
Shijiazhuang's 2026 register contains 52 schools and kindergartens filed to admit international students. The Shijiazhuang Municipal Education Bureau published the current list on 17 June 2026.
Of the six schools examined in this guide, five appear on the 2026 register. Shijiazhuang Camford Royal School does not.
However, appearing on the list does not mean every grade is available. Parents must also check the approved school stage or age range shown for that institution.
The official Chinese name of the list is 《石家庄市2026年招收国际学生学校（幼儿园）备案名单》 . In practical terms, it tells foreign families which schools and kindergartens have been filed with the municipal education bureau to admit international students.
This is more useful than relying on an English school name, a directory listing or an “international department” brochure. The register uses the school's official Chinese name and identifies the school stage for which it is filed.

This distinction matters particularly at compulsory-education level. Shijiazhuang's published enrolment rules state that international students should attend schools filed with the municipal education bureau and that, at compulsory-education level, schools that have not been filed generally may not recruit or educate international students.
Parents should therefore treat the annual register as the starting point for school selection, rather than assuming that every private, bilingual or internationally branded school can accept a child with a foreign passport.
Important: appearing on the register is not the same as receiving an admission offer. It confirms the school's filed eligibility for the relevant stage; families still need to confirm current places, admission requirements, language support, fees and registration arrangements directly with the school.
If Your Child Is Under 15
Children at primary and junior-middle level in Shijiazhuang should expect the Chinese compulsory-education curriculum. Ordinary schools at this stage cannot replace it with A-Level, IB or an American curriculum.
A school may call itself bilingual or international, but that does not change the curriculum rules or automatically mean it can enrol a foreign-passport child.
For younger children, parents should first check whether the school appears on Shijiazhuang's current foreign-student register and whether its approved age range covers the child's grade.

China has a separate category of school for children of foreign personnel. The records checked for this guide show no such school in Shijiazhuang.
Hebei has one recorded school of this type in Qing County, Cangzhou, but its current operating status is unclear and it is in another city.
Bottom line: if your child is under about 15, choose a school that is approved for the child's stage and ask about Chinese-language support. If a full foreign curriculum is essential, Shijiazhuang is unlikely to be the right fit.
If Your Child Is 15 or Older

Hebei Lianbang is the clearest first school to contact. Its own website explicitly describes both students going abroad and international students coming to China, including a 来华留学 programme.
For Shijiazhuang Foreign Language School and Hanlin, ask one additional question: does the international curriculum programme itself accept a foreign-passport student? Being approved at senior-high level does not automatically mean every specialist programme is open to that student.
Bottom line: for a foreign student aged about 15 or older, start with the three schools approved at senior-high level. Do not assume that an A-Level or AP programme shown online is automatically open to foreign-passport applicants.

Getting Around Shijiazhuang
Where you live can matter almost as much as which school you choose. The six schools in this guide are spread across the city centre, Hi-Tech Zone, Taipinghe and Zhengding, so check the daily commute before accepting a place.
Shijiazhuang's currently operating metro network uses Lines 1, 2 and 3. For school planning, the useful question is not simply whether a district has metro service, but whether the school itself is reasonably accessible from a station.
Qiaoxi · Hebei Lianbang
Lianbang is in the central Qiaoxi area, making it one of the more practical choices for families who want to live near the city centre.
Hi-Tech Zone · Hanlin
The Hi-Tech Zone is served by the metro network, including Lines 1 and 3 in the wider area. Confirm the actual school-to- station journey before choosing housing.
Xinhua · No.42 Middle School
No.42 is in Xinhua District. Line 3 serves Gaozhu (高柱), which is the relevant metro station identified in the school's transport research.
Zhengding New District · Brilliant Light
Line 1 currently reaches Fuze (福泽) in the Zhengding New District direction. Brilliant Light is therefore better placed for metro access than Camford, although families should confirm the final journey to the school gate.
Taipinghe · SFLS Younger Campuses
The current operating metro map does not show a station serving the Taipinghe school area directly. A car, school bus or other road transport may therefore be important.
Xin'an · Camford Royal School
Camford is farther north in Zhengding County and does not have direct metro access. For most families, a car or school transport is the practical option.
Metro update: the Line 1 extension from Fuze to Dongyang entered empty-train trial operation on 30 July 2026 and is targeting passenger opening by the end of 2026. Until it officially opens, plan using the currently operating Line 1 terminus at Fuze.
Airport and Railway Access
Shijiazhuang Railway Station is the city's main high-speed rail hub and is useful for families travelling to and from Beijing or other major Chinese cities.
For Shijiazhuang Zhengding International Airport (SJW), passengers can travel by rail to Zhengding Airport Station and use the airport's free shuttle. Because train, flight and airport-bus schedules change, check live timings before travelling rather than relying on a fixed timetable in this guide.
Before You Arrive
Bring your child’s recent school reports, transcripts, and a letter confirming the last grade completed. Prepare Chinese translations as well, and ask the school if any additional documents are required.
